I made TikTok air fryer doughnuts using just two ingredients and the results were unexpected

All you need is two ingredients and five minutes

There's nothing better than warm doughnuts covered in sugar, freshly made.

The smell, the taste, I love them. I love doughnuts in general. So of course I had to try the TikTok air fryer recipe using just two ingredients that promised to be quick and easy and taste perfect.

I was a little sceptical at first. I attempted doughnuts during lockdown in 2020 and they failed miserably, despite my nan telling me it was a "great first try". I knew I went wrong when I forgot the yeast and then undercooked the second batch - some things should be left to the professionals.

But I saw a recipe that was yeast free and just two ingredients - 230g of self raising flour and 350g vanilla Greek yoghurt. Yes I was also surprised. So out came the air fryer and chef hat once again.

And to be honest, it was fairly easy. I mixed the flour and yoghurt in a bowl until it became a sticky mixture. Using some excess flour I rolled out the dough so it was no longer too sticky to work with.

Then I decided to start easy and make some doughnut balls, because you can't go wrong with bites surely? I rolled up a few evenly ball shaped pieces and kept them to the side before I braved making my first doughnut shape.

That was harder than it seems, though eventually, I found an easier way by just rolling a piece of dough into a rope before forming a circle and pinching the end pieces together.

Once I was happy with my doughnuts, I preheated the air fryer, oiled it up and then placed the items in the basked for five minutes on 180C, leaving plenty of space between. The doughnuts didn't brown evenly but apparently, that's normal.

The doughnuts were then done and, although I need to work on my circular shapes, they weren't actually too bad. You can decorate them however you like. I opted for sugary doughnuts and also tried my hand at a glaze.

Taste wise, I'm not sure what I was expecting but as home made air fryers, cooked for five minutes with two ingredients go, it wasn't the worst thing I've made. But I don't think I'd be doing it again in a hurry, it was more like sugary bread. The air fryer adventures continue.
